Frequently asked questions
The essentials before you begin.
Here we gather the most common questions about classes, pricing, schedule, progression, and programs at Ittai Dojo.
Is Ittai Dojo suitable for beginners?
Yes. Classes are designed for adults and older teens starting from zero, and also for people returning to martial arts after several years away. Practice is built progressively with instructor guidance.
What should I expect in my first class?
The first Kyokushin class is free and helps you learn the live Zoom format, meet the instructor, and understand the training intensity. You do not need prior experience, a uniform, or special equipment—comfortable clothes, water, and a clear space are enough.
What is Kyokushin Karate?
Kyokushin is a full-contact karate style that emphasizes solid fundamentals, physical conditioning, technique, and practical application. At Ittai Dojo it is the main regular program: live, structured classes with clear progression for adults living in Mexico.
Are classes live and instructor-guided?
Yes. Regular Kyokushin classes are live via Zoom. They are not recordings: you train at the same time as the instructor and receive guidance and corrections in real time.
Can I train while travelling?
Regular classes are online, so you can join from another location if you have a stable internet connection. Regular programs and certification at Ittai Dojo are for people living in Mexico.
What is the schedule and time zone?
Regular Kyokushin classes are Monday and Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. All schedules published by Ittai Dojo are shown in Mexico City time.
How much does Kyokushin training cost?
Classes currently cost $100 MXN per class and there is no mandatory monthly tuition. You can pay after each class, prepay, or make a single monthly payment based on your actual attendance.
Can I train if I live outside Mexico?
Regular programs and progression or certification processes at Ittai Dojo are for people living in Mexico. If you live outside the country, we are happy to guide you, but Ittai Dojo does not offer a certification process for students residing in other countries.
Can Kyokushin exams be taken online?
Yes, from 10th to 7th kyu. From 6th kyu onward, exams require physical presence because they include sparring requirements. Virtual training does build real technical, physical, and mental fundamentals, but we prefer to be clear about the limits of online progression.
What do I need to train online?
A stable internet connection, comfortable clothes, and a small space where you can move safely. You do not need a home gym to begin.
Does Ittai Dojo offer self-defense?
Yes. We offer self-defense courses, sessions, and seminars for adults, including specialized formats for women. Availability and dates may vary.
Is there a Kobudo program yet?
Yes. Ittai Dojo already teaches Matayoshi tradition Kobudo and is affiliated with the International Okinawa Kobudo Kazokukai (IOKK). Sensei Alan Mokbel holds instructor authorization from Okinawa Kobudo Kazoku-Kai. The regular schedule is still to be announced, but you can already write to us to register your interest.
Can I try a class before continuing?
Yes. The first Kyokushin class is free. It is a chance to learn the format, meet the instructor, and understand the training dynamic before deciding.
